Mental Health & ADHD Assessment Process
General Mental Health Evaluation & ADHD Assessment
My evaluation process is designed to be straightforward and thorough. We start with a 90-minute intake, which allows time to review your mental health history and discuss treatment options thoughtfully and unhurriedly.
If ADHD is a primary concern, a structured, evidence-based evaluation will be completed. Depending on time constraints, this may take 1–3 follow-up sessions (30 minutes). This includes assessment, education, and discussion of treatment options. If you’ve had a comprehensive ADHD evaluation elsewhere, records may be submitted for review, but I require my own ADHD assessment.
For patients aged 35 and older—or those with a relevant personal or family history of serious heart conditions—an EKG within the past 24 months is required, especially if stimulant medications are being considered due to their potential effects on cardiac conduction. If EKG results are abnormal, clearance from your primary care provider or a cardiologist (if necessary) will be required before stimulant medications can be prescribed. This is typically obtained through your primary care provider. When needed, a letter of request can be provided pending a signed release of information.

Baseline laboratory testing is required for all patients prescribed psychiatric medications. Recent results (within the past 6–12 months) may be accepted, or new labs can be ordered by me through Quest Diagnostics, Rupa Health (for those paying cash) or from your primary care provider, depending on your preference. We’ll review and determine the best option during your initial appointment.
Cash/Self-Pay Monthly ADHD Stimulant Medication Plan
For patients who meet clinical criteria, a monthly cash-pay ADHD stimulant medication plan may be available. This option is intended for stable individuals with uncomplicated ADHD who prefer a brief monthly follow-up appointment for maintenance stimulant prescriptions, and is offered at the provider’s discretion.

To be considered for the monthly ADHD plan, a new patient intake appointment and a comprehensive ADHD evaluation must be completed. Depending on individual circumstances, the evaluation process may span 2–3 follow-up appointments. Participation also requires completion of specific consent forms. Eligibility is based on clinical history and appropriateness, ability to maintain monthly appointments, and follow treatment guidelines. You can cancel your subscription plan at any time.
Generally, for ADHD treatment, when diagnostic criteria are met and required testing is completed, medication is typically initiated between the third and fifth follow-up appointments. This timeline may vary depending on how quickly the ADHD assessment, labs, and EKG are completed and results returned and reviewed. While this is the standard approach, adjustments may be made based on clinical circumstances. Click below for a list of accepted insurance and cash fees.
